SOUTHERN  INDIA   TSUNAMI  HELP

In February of this year Toluca Lake’s Holistic Health practitioner, Mitta Wise, went to Southern India with Timothy Trujillo, First Medicines director and provided trauma healing sessions to those in the poorer fishing villages affected by the tsunami.

We were able to go to 6 different villages and give sessions to at leat 60 people. We were also able to deliver rice and obtain  a sewing machine through a sponsor in LA, Jim Rudolph, for a tailor who had lost his daughter and his sewing machine in the disaster.

Some of the villages are only just starting to get more help such as the tent city, Mottakadu which has a sponsor who is providing boats and new huts for the displaced tent city.

Other villages are still struggling with no boats and no new housing, for example, Srinivasapuram, just out of Chennai.

We were able to provide many needed trauma healing sessions with gentle and simple caring therapies. This nurturing approach was given with permission from the village leaders and elders and was readily received and appreciated.

We felt honored to be able to provide service to these beautiful people and we are even more committed as we are now back in LA, doing fundraising ventures particularly for Srinivasapuram.

The village needs boats and netting for the fishermen and some new huts and hut repairs to others. There are specific families also that need extra care and after that  Mottakadu has requested basic equpment to keep educating the children. So there is a lot to do!

Local Community Outreach

Homeless Community

Sandy Reid and a small group of devoted people, have been cooking and feeding the homeless in the San Fernando Valley.  We are a group of private citizens who have developed our own  program to help provide hot meals and sandwich meals that are nutritionally sound and balanced along with water and fresh fruits. Our group donates all of the labor and food to make this happen.
 

LA Families in Need

There is a group of women in Topanga and Malibu who have started a Holiday Program for Jewish children in need.  They provide new toys and clothing to families that otherwise would not be able to provide their children with gifts for Chanukah and other special occasions.  Requests are taken from the 40 families that we  help and they are answered by the women in the group.  The entire process is anonymous thus keeping the gift giving from the heart.
